Assamees call it Bhogali Bihu and their feasts last for a week. Young people make huts from bamboo, leaves, and thatch.They also play traditional games such as buffalo fighting and pot breaking.
Gujaratis fly kites on 14th and 15th January every year. Boys and girls spend whole day on their terraces flying kites. They eat undhiyu and jalebi with their loved ones. The festival is called “Uttarayan” in this state.
